At least 5 years experience in the mining engineering environment.

POSITION INFO:

A well established and growing Mining giant urgently seeks a seasoned and experienced Engineering Superintendent Dry Mining & WCPA Shore Services. Mining background is a MUST!  Candidate will report to the Mine Manager.

The purpose of this job is to ensure zero harm to people and care of assets by implementing asset management strategies on all dry mining operations and WCPA shore services infrastructure to deliver on production targets

Key Functional Outputs

1.            Dry Mining Care & Maintenance

•             Understand the client Asset Management Work Cycle and implement the relevant systems to conform to the relevant KPI’s

•             Implement and manage preventative maintenance plans for both dry mining assets , including slurry and water booster, feeding WCPA & WCPB

•             Develop and implement a condition based monitoring programme

•             Develop and implement an asset care programme for routine and major planned maintenance

•             Develops a bill of materials for all installed asset components and ensures an adequate stock holding of spares to meet production targets -            35 %

2.            Shore Services Infrastructure Care & Maintenance

•             Implement and manage an asset care plan for all WCPA Tailings Paddock Pumps, MCC’s, Tails Boosters, Cons Boosters, Slimes Boosters, Tails Stackers , Dewatering & Decanting Pumps, Raw water pumps (outside reservoir fence)  and MSP Reject pumps (outside MSP fence)

•             Manage the care and maintenance of all out of service Mining Assets in the Shore Service yard

•             Manage all aspects of the shore services workshop

•             Meet with Mine Planning and HT infrastructure team on a regular basis to ensure alignment and contribute to both short and long term planning

•             Provide engineering expertise and solutions  to operations team on operate for reliability aspects  at shore services -35 %

Key Management Outputs

Safety, Health & Environment Best Practice

•             Implement and manage all SHEQ related activities at both Dry Mining plants, WCPA shore services, workshop and yard.

•             Implement safety awareness and reinforce safe working practices through regular safety meetings, on-the-job safety training and modeling the relevant safety behaviour

•             Monitor area for potential risks and take appropriate action to prevent and manage risks

•             Drive compliance to Kenmare Health, Safety & Environment, and environmental licensing & permitting requirements by implementing appropriate practices, standards and procedures

•             Monitor and follow-up on safety processes and measures implemented

•             Initiate and drive the relevant safety audits and investigations

•             Proactively recommend improvements on safety policies             5%

4.            People excellence

•             Lead all employees to deliver on their targets by implementing key performance contracts and performance manage

•             Develop succession  planning and strategies to achieve mine localization plans

•             Develop and motivate subordinate staff

•             Ensure leave and R&R plans are adequately scheduled to ensure no interruptions to service delivery

•             Balance, manage and control resources across different disciplines through resource plans executed in line with the constraints of annual planning cycles, operational specifications and organisational resource plans

•             Ensure that employees have clear work expectations, targets and goals to work according to

•             Encourage team members to be actively involved in finding and implementing solutions

•             Ensure that operational problems are resolved within appropriate levels of accountability and responsibility for individuals and teams

•             Effectively manage employee performance and create opportunities for them to gain the competence for the work required

•             Manage poor performance constructively and decisively in line with the specific process

•             Ensure that employees are managed in line with  Mine’s human resource plans, policies and procedures (i.e. leave, remuneration, disciplinary procedures etc.)

•             Actively contribute toward aligning employees with the organisation goals and objectives            5%

5.            Cost efficiency of the Department

•             Develop annual operating and capital budgets to meet 5 year operating plan

•             Implement adequate controls to eliminate wastage and abuse of overhead related costs

•             Budget by weighing up costs, risks and potential returns on expenditure related to workforce, materials, equipment, infrastructure and technology

•             Keep within budget constrains for an annual period and minimize expenditure

•             Effectively manage contractor/ service provider relationships, and budgets associated with special projects

•             Effectively utilise existing assets to increase operational efficiencies

•             Monitor planned vs. actual, analyse results and report on variances as well as profitability            5%

QUALIFICATIONS: Technical diploma or Engineering degree
