POSITION INFO:

Graduate: Industrial Chemical Engineer – Durban

Salary: R10-12k Per Month   

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a recently Qualified Graduate Industrial Engineering or Chemical Engineering Graduate to join a production company for a 2 year graduate programme based in eThekwini. The successful candidate will gain exposure to all facets of health, safety, reporting, operating procedures, engineering, production and recycling environments. You will be required to work on the shop/production floor as part of the rotation, understanding and gaining experience on machinery and equipment within the plant.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12; Diploma in Industrial or Chemical Engineering     
• Essential Requirements - Candidates must have own transport and be willing to work shifts
• Ability to communicate well with subordinates and co-workers
• Excellent time management skills
• Willing, able and hungry to learn all facets of the business from shop floor – boardroom level
• Highly systematic, organised and accurate record keeping
• Problem solving and analytical skills
• Will be required to be “hands on” and work in the production department on the shop floor as part of the graduate programme to learn and understand how the machinery and equipment operations function

Duties:

• Perform to quality, waste and production standards and goals
• Inspect products for any quality defects before sending to the relevant departments
• Management of monthly physical stock
  • Updating integrated management system documentation and audits daily and monthly department reports to management
  • Indenting of production items
  • Light maintenance of line
  • Responsible for initiatives for line cost reduction
  • Responsible for reading and understanding the Operating Procedure Manuals (OPM’s) and Work

Instructions (WI’s)

• Ensure samples submitted to the lab are taken correctly and in a timely manner, particularly to fulfil

Certificates of Analysis (COA) requirements

• Trouble shooting and assisting in non-conformance investigations, as and when required
• Understand, support and lead in 5S initiatives within department
  • Ensure 5S audits are performed and documented at specified time frames for their assigned area during shift
  • Implementing new projects for line improvements
  • Staff and team management - manpower planning leading and discipline
