Engineering Buyer

SUMMARY:
A large plastics company in Durban is looking for an experienced Engineering Buyer to join them

POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the role:

Purchase goods, materials & services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering price, quality, delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.

Key responsibilities:

• PURCHASE GOODS, COMPONENTS OR SERVICES IN LINE WITH SPECIFIED COST, QUALITY AND DELIVERY TARGETS.
• BUILD, MAINTAIN AND MANAGE SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS AND KEEP UP GOOD COMMUNICATION
• RESEARCH FOR POTENTIAL NEW SUPPLIERS
• PROCESS REQUISITIONS AND PREPARE PURCHASE ORDERS TO SEND TO SUPPLIERS
• LIAISE WITH SUPPLIERS REGARDING DELIVERY OR LEAD TIMES AND REPORT ANY ISSUES TO MANAGEMENT
• COLLECT DELIVERY NOTES/INVOICES AND ARRANGE FOR THEM TO BE RECEIPTED ON ERP SYSTEM(SYSPRO)
• FOLLOW UP ON OUTSTANDING ORDERS THAT HAVE BEEN PLACED AND NOT FULFILLED IN DESIRED TIME
• ASSIST WITH CREDIT APPLICATIONS
• ASSIST WITH INVENTORY SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE SPARES

• Carry out any reasonable and practicable instruction issued to you by the Engineering Manager or CEO.

Educational Requirements and Experience:

• Education: A minimum of a Grade 12. ( Maths core)

bachelor’s degree/diploma in  supply chain, Commerce or Engineering an advantage

• Experience: Previous manufacturing buying experience will be advantageous.

Additional Notes

• Essential: Good computer skills with experience in Microsoft Excel, Outlook.
