Energy Bid Manager - Peterborough, UK, or Durban, South Africa - Market Related Salary

The Energy Bid Manager will provide support to the Strategy Team on managing a team of technical consultants to deliver a winning Independent Power Producer offer to the Authority and minimize the risks. The technologies developed include biomass combined heat and power plant along with a solar farm.

Essential Requirements:

• Substantial experience as a Bid Manager, Mechanical Engineer, or Business Developer for decentralized renewable solutions
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Has a good understanding of the global technical architecture Strong experience of project coordinating bids and meeting short term timeframes
• Ability to react quickly to changing business and project needs Capable of making sound strategic and operational decisions through analyzing data, focusing on customers and commercial awareness.
• Strong behavior skills such as being results-driven, a team player, creative, and analytical
• Cross-cultural experience and working collaboratively with other entities in geographic regions
• Capacity to federate and work with support function teams Willingness to embrace culture change aimed at improving business and team performance.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in the African market
• Previous experience in Project Finance
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Energy Business Developers for bid preparation and submission (technical part) of a biomass combined heat and power plant along with a solar farm
• Build reference technical and economical offers
• Develop technical solution and the energy sales simulations to anticipate energy sales compared to cost
• Build up technical and commercial arguments to convince the client, write down the proposition to the client
• With the bid team, manage internal investment approval memos and presentations to the Investment Committees and/ or SteerCo meetings
• Build a reference of project solutions, best practices, and lessons learnt
• Build reference databases of costs, suppliers, and contractors
• Through a thorough understanding of the risk allocation of the projects,
• manage the risks register, flag and mitigate major risks
• Optimize the costs with procurement
• Write Request For Proposals (RFPs) for sub-contractors and technical consultants
• Responsible for obtaining the technical due diligence (asbestos, ground survey, land ownership, as built document, EIA permits etc.)
• Set up the cost strategy (CAPEX/OPEX)
• Manage the technical subcontractors (meetings, contract, invoicing, Vos, programme, deliveries, quality etc.)
• Review and actively comment the technical documents produced by the subcontractors
• Own the technical part of the pipeline of projects
