A high performing company in Gauteng has a position for a Hardware Engineer with a focus on firmware development in optimizing grid utilization, reinforcing energy efficiency practices, and hyper-efficient implementation.

POSITION INFO:

Job & Company Description:

The position entails refinement of the company’s smart meter hardware and firmware. You will drive the firmware development, both yourself and through outsourcing to sub-contractors, lead the development and integration of a LoRa based wireless connectivity functionality for smart meters to enable low latency logging, and control remote control.

Education:

Electrical / Electronic engineering, Computer science, Mechatronics degree

Job Experience & Skills Required:

3-4 years relevant work experience
Knowledge of LoRa or other Low Power wireless connectivity technologies
Firmware development and adaptation for improved stability and user interface
Development, design, and prototyping of smart meter hardware
Integration of low power wireless communication module and infrastructure
Increase the resilience of smart grid hardware
Further integrations with existing infrastructure
Embedded C
Good communicator in English, both written and verbal
