SUMMARY:
Southern Oil Pty Ltd, an established company and market leader in manufacturing Canola oil and related products in the retail, food services, and bulk sectors, has the following exciting career opportunity in Swellendam.

POSITION INFO:

Short Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is the maintenance of all electrical installations and equipment on the plant and the installation of new electrical equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Maintenance
  • Maintain plant equipment, for example, pumps, steam lines, and pneumatic components.
  • Perform plant maintenance during shutdowns period, which is sometimes not within the standard working hours.
  • Research new project equipment and communicate with stores to order electrical parts.
• Inspections
  • Do regular inspections on plant equipment according to a checklist and a preventive maintenance plan.
• Team Work
  • Give feedback to Senior Engineering Technician and Maintenance Engineer on breakdown root cause analyses.
  • Handle breakdowns during responsible standby period.
  • Manage Electrician Assistant according to HR policies and Disciplinary code of conduct.
• Procedures
  • Perform tasks according to Health and Safety procedures and Food Safety Procedures.
  • Complete DMS work orders and keep a record of all work completed.
  • Apply for parts by making use of the Requisition Procedure.
  • Follow workshop housekeeping rules and implement a 5s strategy.

Key Competencies:

Education and Experience

• Qualified with applicable Trade Certificate
• Certified installation electrician will be beneficial
• Valid code B driving License
• A minimum of 5 years maintenance experience with installations
• Experience in Hazardous Electrical installations will be an advantage

Technical Abilities

• Computer literate: Basic computer operating
• Understating of basic pneumatics
• Good knowledge of flowmeters
• Calibration of 4-20mA systems
• Basic understanding of PLC systems
