Qualified Electrical Instrumentation Technician - Durban
Salary: R15-18K with Benefits, Negotiable
Purpose of Position:
Complement Recruitment are recruiting for an Electrical Instrumentation Technician based in eThekwini, Durban, Kwazulu Natal. The primary responsibility of position is to ensure the resolution of engineering problems and
execution in line with standards and quality requirements. This is a permanent position and will report to the Electrical & Instrumentation Manager.

- Minimum qualification: Electrical Trade or National Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering
- MV Certificate - Medium Voltage (MV): between 1000 V and 45 kV
- 3 years’ experience repairing and maintaining machinery in a FMCG / Manufacturing Environment
- Must be prepared to work shifts.
- Must be able to work overtime on request
- Own a reliable transport to and from work (based in Pinetown, Umlazi, Pietermaritzburg & surrounds)
Skills And Knowledge:
ü Troubleshooting capabilities.
ü Ability to do accurate report writing and tape measures
ü Effective use of instruments and physical tasks
ü Ability to take initiative on work.
ü Ability to work under pressure and meet work deadlines with attention to detail.
Duties:
- Perform combination of Electrical and Instrumentation tasks
- Provide a service to production to minimize delay times and solve recurring delay
- Complete MV Distribution panels including battery tripping unit
- Diesel generator, including alternator and electrical panel, LV distribution panels and APFC panel
- Transformers and LV Busbar
- Plant earthing and lightning protection
- Attend to equipment to administration building, canteen, and Plant Office
- Responsible for all plant and utility motors breakdown maintenance; plant lighting, UP, battery banks & DBs
- Perform maintenance jobs on process instruments, PLC, Drives etc.
- Monitor and follow-up for spare parts of respective area with purchase and department coordinator
- Involvement in renovation and modifications in respective area
- Involvement in energy saving projects execution with team
- Ensure Statutory compliance from electrical side in line with IMS & Occupational Health and Safety Regulation Act
- Support TQM initiatives and ensure Safety compliance
- Data and record keeping
