Electrical Engineer (Entry Level)

Purpose of the Position:

Electrical Engineer with Government Certificate of Competency/ GMR2.1 Mines and Works appointmnet.

Responsibilites and Duties:

• Government Certificates of Competence as an Electrical Engineer.
• Recognised Degree or National
• Legal appointed as GMR 2.1 on site because of the high-power demand.
• The testing of all emergency Generators and Fire Pump Stations.
• Ensure that all Transformers, MV Switchgear and UPSs are functional, serviced and tested as required by law and manufacturer. This includes all Protection Relays.
  Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 in all buildings and on site.
• Inspections on buildings, lights, lifts and escalators must be done continuously.
  Make recommendations on improvements to Management regarding safety, cost savings and new technologies available.
  Experience in fault-finding
• Experience in Construction and Projects
• Continued improvement of processes, machinery, utilities and best maintenance practice

Academic & Trade Qualifications:

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree/National Diploma in Engineering
• GCC/ GMR2.1 Mines and Works

Work experience and Skills:

Essential experience

• Minimum two years experience in a mining environment as electrical engineer (underground, surface and plant) 

Desirable qualifications

• Knowledge on Winders. VAC, DC and AC drives and Soft Starters
• Knowledge of raise drilling operations, methods and fault finding Ensuring target availability of equipment in line with demand from mining operations team Design and implement best practices for preventive maintenance to improve MTTR (Mean Time To Repair)  and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) MTTF (Mean Time To Failure)
• Knowledge of replacement strategy of key equipment in time
  • Leadershiop development programme
