SUMMARY:
Large, well established fast growing group of Companies in the Transport and Warehousing arena with their head office based in Johannesburg is looking to employ an Executive Manager - Technical.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential to this role is a Minimum of 10 years RELEVANT working experience with sound knowledge of health and safety, good road traffic experience and the road traffic act. 

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

    • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience.

    • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.

    • Sound Knowledge of the road traffic act.

   • In depth knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in          the maintenance and repair of vehicles.

   • In dept knowledge of practices and procedures involved in researching,           comparing and purchasing vehicles, equipment and supplies.

    • Leadership abilities.

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • The ability to identify competitive risk in the market and to realign strategy accordingly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to think logically and analyse problems.
  • Exposure in the transport and logistics field with a wide networking capability.
  • Pro-active identification of possible problems related to successful utilization of company.
  • Ability to execute diagnostic procedures for vehicles.
  • In depth knowledge of operation, theory and principles of petrol and diesel - powered engines.
  • Budget preparation and control. Outstanding organizational skills.
  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Plans, directs and co-ordinates the operation of vehicle maintenance and repair programs for company owned vehicles.
  • Review purchase requests for new and replacement vehicles.
  • Plans and administers a preventative maintenance and vehicle repair program for company owned vehicles and equipment nationally.
  • Receives and processes vehicle accident and damage reports.
  • Prepares cost analysis and periodic management and operational reports.
  • Plan, organize and direct functions and activities related to the procurement, servicing, operation, maintenance and repair of company vehicles'' establish and maintain priorities and time lines, assure vehicle-related functions and activities comply with established laws, codes, rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate and direct personnel nationally, resources and communications to meet Company vehicle needs and assure smooth and efficient activities. 
  • Confer with depots concerning vehicle needs and issues; assure proper and timely resolution of related problems and conflicts; direct workshop activities to assure company vehicles are maintained in safe and proper operating condition.
  • Monitor, evaluate and determine priority of vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair projects nationally; review the work of mechanics and other maintenance personnel to assure compliance with established standards.
  • Direct of-site road maintenance, repair and recovery functions for roadside malfunctions.
  • Research and direct procurement of Company fleet; prepare vehicle specifications according to Company needs; co-ordinate the purchasing and assure optimal pricing and quality of vehicles for the Company; participate in related negotiation and quotation activities.
  • Co-ordinate and direct operation of Company fleet tracking and assure proper input of related data including cost per vehicle and invoicing information; assist with the processing of insurance claims involving Company vehicles.
  • Tyre and Tarpaulins management.
