SUMMARY:
Brits Area – Northwest Province: An Estate Manager is required to coordinate the efficient day-to-day management of The Estate and all members of staff, to ensure that the estate is safe, secure, protected, maintained and serviced for the benefit of the Members and the LOA.

POSITION INFO:

To ensure that laws, statutory regulations and Estate rules are adhered to; to interact and cooperate with all stakeholders, to accomplish successful advancement of the Estate.

The Estate covers approximately 50 hectares and currently comprises 27 developed stands and 14 undeveloped stands. The Estate includes a Club House and Members’ pool, as well as a sizable Workshop.

 

Due to location for schooling this would suit a couple with very young children (before school going age) or a couple whose children are independent

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric Certificate

• Valid Driver’s license

• Relevant educational requirement related to eg lodge/golf estate/farm/hospitality at management level

• Technical skills with respect to machinery operation and maintenance

• Bilingual in Afrikaans and English. Tswana proficiency would be beneficial

• FGASA qualification an advantage

• At least 3 - 5 years’ experience within the hotel/lodge/golf estate/property industry

• Proficiency in MS Office - Word, Excel & Outlook

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements

Requirements for this role will, ideally, include but not limited to:

• Adequate knowledge of NEMA/NEMPA statutes for protected areas an advantage

• Proven staff management skills

• Adequate and proficient working knowledge of municipal services such as water purification and reticulation, sewer systems

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of Construction regulations

• Good understanding of Security processes and Wildlife asset protection

• Proficient experience and knowledge of Conservation practices and procedures

• Proficient understanding of financial statements and financial management reports

• Proficient understanding and working knowledge of contracts, contract negotiation

• Good understanding of customer service requirements

• Ability to plan, delegate and control performance

• Strong communication skills across all levels: staff, homeowners, board members, third parties

 

Ensures uninterrupted service delivery in terms of:

•Security and safety and access control within the Estate

• Protection of wildlife and maintaining conservation standards

• Liaison with owners regarding building plans and construction related processes

• Compliance with building regulations and rules

• Maintenance of all infrastructure (services, roads, fences, etc.) within the Estate

• Supervision of the Members’ cleaning service

• Assists in setting and enforcing performance standards and service level agreements from contractors

• Monitors Environmental management for the Estate

• Ensure the safe keeping of all watercraft moored or stored in Designated areas.

• To respond promptly and decisively to emergency situations

• To circulate regularly throughout property maintaining a high profile with members, guests, staff and suppliers

• To perform additional duties requested by the Directors from time to time

• To be available during peak times of utilisation by members and guests.

• Assist with firefighting and security issues, in conjunction with the local groups

 

Financial Management and Admin

  • Coordinates the preparation of annual budgets in conjunction with the FD

• Support the FD with detailed financial administration

• Maintain a detailed asset register

• Ensure the integrity of record keeping and filing

• Contracts and service agreements

• Investigate/introduce forms, tools, templates and processes to improve performance

• Ensure that occupancy reports are sent regularly as required

• Ensures that all estate policies, procedures and practices comply with legal and environmental requirements as well as with estate rules

 

Human Resources

• Develops and promulgates HR policies and procedures for all direct reports

• Monitor and promote healthy work relationships with staff and neighbours

• Engage in regular staff meetings

• Ensures compliance with all HR related legislative and regulatory requirements • Motivate, delegate and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and initiative when required.

• Ensures that any disciplinary and poor performance issues are dealt with promptly, fairly and in accordance with labour legislation

• Ensure that the relevant parties comply with the OHS legislation and regulations

• Identify and implement training and teaching for individuals

 

Communications

• Put together and distribute a quarterly Members’ newsletter

• Provide the BLOA Directors feedback on the estate on a regular basis

• Maintain regular communication with NWPB and neighbours

 

Governance and Compliance

• Applies the terms of reference of the Memorandum of Incorporation and Participation Rules of the company

• Applies the terms and conditions of the various servitudes and Notarial Deeds if necessary

• Applies the Local Municipal Acts and Regulations Applies the terms of agreements made by NWPB

 

Time and Self-Management

• Plan and prioritise, demonstrating abilities to manage competing demands

• Manage your own time effectively as well as assist in managing the time of direct reports Demonstrate flexibility in balancing achievement of own objectives with abilities to understand and respond to organisational needs
