Requirements:
- Grade 12 with a Nursing Certificate, Diploma (Enrolled Nurse) and registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Enrolled Nurse
- At least 1 -2 years nursing experience in a primary healthcare environment
- Knowledge of HIV and ART
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques
- Experience with the processing of samples for transport and storage
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet)
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented
- Administrative and logistical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
- Knowledge of quality control, activities, systems and processes (QA/QC)
- Excellent work standards
Advantageous:
- Ability to speak isiXhosa
- Experience of working in a clinical research environment
- Experience of working in a community-based environment
- Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate
- Valid driver’s license and own transport
Responsibilities:
- Recruit potential study participants
- Perform clinic observations and study procedures for clinical trials
- Perform phlebotomy procedures for study participants
- Assist ART clinic staff with phlebotomy and other tasks, as required
- Preparation of study samples for transport and storage, including centrifuge
- Complete specimen-related study documentation
- Assist with maintenance of lab and phlebotomy related stock and equipment
- Perform all activities according to Good Clinic Practice Standards
