SUMMARY:
A well-established AgTech company is seeking an E-Commerce Manager to direct, develop and manage its e-commerce sales platforms, digital marketing initiatives, online store operations and digital customer service frameworks. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sustainable online sales growth, optimising digital conversion rates, ensuring complete product and pricing accuracy, coordinating seamless order fulfilment with warehouse and logistics teams, and leveraging data analytics to continuously enhance platform profitability and customer satisfaction.

Minimum requirements for the role:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, E-Commerce, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ e-commerce leadership experience within an agricultural, retail, hardware, fast-moving consumer goods or multi-branch trading environment
- Experience in leading complex e-commerce migration projects or bespoke software development implementations is essential
- Must have experience in managing third-party logistics integration, courier API connections and automated dispatch workflows
- Experience managing digital advertising budgets and returning measurable return on advertising spend / return on investment (ROI)
- Must have basic knowledge of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA 25 of 2002), Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA 4 of 2013), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA 85 of 1993), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), and Cybercrimes Act (19 of 2020)
- Familiarity with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), consumer legislation and regulatory compliance
- Understanding of customer journey mapping, mobile responsiveness, site speed optimisation, interface accessibility, digital user experience and key web metrics
- Proficiency in e-commerce platform layout, catalogue structure, checkout flows, payment gateway integrations, conversion rate optimisation, e-commerce architecture and management
- Exposure to search engine optimisation, search engine marketing, pay-per-click, social media advertising and automated lifecycle email marketing
- Strong analytical and numerical reasoning, with exceptional precision and attention to detail
- Creative problem-solving and proactive innovation, with digital literacy and adaptability to emerging digital tools
- Effective time management and priority setting, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
- Vendor and external agency management, with stakeholder coordination and cross-departmental collaboration
- Professional written and verbal communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
The successful candidate will be responsible for:- Managing, maintaining and optimising the e-commerce website, ensuring high availability, zero avoidable downtime, and a stable, secure trading environment.
- Owning end-to-end product catalogue management, including product data, images, specifications, categories, stock visibility and absolute pricing accuracy across all online channels.
- Planning, executing and evaluating high-impact digital marketing strategies (SEO, SEM, PPC, social media advertising and lifecycle email) that drive targeted traffic, brand visibility and high-value customer acquisition.
- Managing digital advertising budgets and continuously improving return on advertising spend and overall marketing ROI.
- Delivering an outstanding, friction-free digital customer journey across desktop and mobile, including site speed, checkout flow, payment options, click & collect and delivery experiences.
- Establishing and managing digital customer service frameworks, resolving queries efficiently and building long-term brand loyalty.
- Coordinating with retail branches, warehouse and logistics teams so that all online orders are accurately picked, packed and dispatched on time, with minimal stockouts.
- Overseeing third-party logistics, courier API connections and automated dispatch workflows for nationwide delivery and branch collection.
- Aligning online inventory, availability and fulfilment rules with multi-branch retail operations, including quote-to-order and collection workflows.
- Analysing platform sales performance, conversion metrics, user behaviour and channel profitability, converting web data into commercial strategy and executive reporting.
- Identifying, testing and implementing innovative e-commerce features and conversion-rate optimisation initiatives, including A/B testing of layout, checkout and merchandising.
- Managing agency developers, vendors and technical partners, and ensuring reliable integration with core enterprise systems, payment gateways and operational platforms.
- Ensuring e-commerce operations comply with applicable legislation and consumer standards, including ECTA, POPIA, CPA, the Cybercrimes Act and related regulatory requirements.
- Defining and monitoring key web and commercial metrics (traffic, conversion, average order value, fulfilment performance, returns and customer satisfaction) and acting on insights.
- Collaborating with merchandising, retail, finance, IT and marketing stakeholders to grow sustainable online sales and improve platform profitability.
