SUMMARY:
Driver & Part-Time Driver Trainer
POSITION INFO:
We are looking for an experienced Driver & Part-Time Driver Trainer to join its Transport and Fleet team. This dual-role position involves training and assessing professional drivers for two weeks of each month while performing operational driving duties for the remainder. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting safe, efficient, and compliant driving practices while ensuring excellent delivery performance.
Preference will be given to suitably qualified African Female candidates in line with the company''''s Employment Equity objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-cab driver assessments and onboarding evaluations.
- Deliver driver training, coaching, and performance improvement programmes.
- Train drivers on safe, economical, and environmentally responsible driving practices.
- Coach drivers on vehicle inspections, accident prevention, emergency response, and company procedures.
- Train drivers on vehicle operation, refrigeration units, tail lifts, loading and unloading procedures.
- Monitor driver performance and maintain training records.
- Drive continuous improvement in driver safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Achieve driver performance targets and reduce negligent accidents.
Driver Duties
- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Complete deliveries according to company standards and schedules.
- Manage delivery documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Communicate delays, discrepancies, damages, and service issues.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, driver code of conduct, and safety standards.
- Ensure valid licences, permits, and medical fitness requirements are maintained.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- 5 years'''' professional driving experience.
- Previous driver training experience on MAN and MCD trucks.
- Experience within the FMCG or Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry.
- Intermediate computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Supply Chain qualification or studies will be advantageous.
