Divisional Accountant

SUMMARY:
The Accountant position is accountable for the accounting operations of the division, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive
set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with international financial reporting standards.

POSITION INFO:

• Review, examine and analyse accounting records, management accounts, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. This will include a review of FAR, computation of taxes owed to tax returns.
• Review of monthly revenue and cash reconciliations including follow-up with the Treasury Department in order to resolve any variances.
• Preparation of annual financial statements and all supporting schedules for the audit file
• Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or provide advice
• Preparation of accurate Balance Sheet & other reconciliations
• Preparation of board reports
• Review and recalculate gaming taxes.
• Preparation of income and deferred tax computations.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
• Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
• Preparation of the annual budget and forecasts, updates and monitoring.
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
• Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments and contract negotiations.
• Maintain up-to-date contractual agreements.
• Assist in checking and releasing of daily payments.
• Oversight of accounts payable team including reviewing of age analyses and reconciliations
• Assist in research of technical accounting and tax issues for compliance
• Any other duties as delegated by the Finance Manager

• BCom Accounting Honours Degree & articles with a reputable audit firm as a minimum
