Dispatch Supervisor

Southern Oil Pty Ltd, an established company and market leader in manufacturing Canola oil and related products in the retail, food services, and bulk sectors, has the following exciting career opportunity in Swellendam.

POSITION INFO:

Short Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the shift and supervisory duties in Dispatch.
Dispatch is responsible for loading and offloading bulk trucks and containers and washing SOILL trucks, bins, and buckets according to approved procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Truck Management
  • Inspect trucks through the IR-BT Inspection of Bulk Trucks, the Pro-VC Large Vehicle Control-Transport Services, and the PRO-LBO Loading of Bulk Oils Procedures.
  • Ensure the PRO-LSSAM Procedure for a sampling of oils is adhere to for the Laboratory.
  • Ensure that the IR-F Inspection Report Sheets are completed and submitted.
  • Ensure trucks are loaded to capacity as permitted by law or to the specific instructions of the client.
  • Ensure that the various loading areas are clean and presentable at all times.
  • Manage the trucks offloaded on-site to ensure free-flowing traffic.
  • Ensure that the Oil Procedure and offloading at the designated areas are within a speedy distribution.
  • Ensure that all packages brought back with SOILL transport are handled as per the procedure and offloaded at the designated areas.
  • Communicate with imports as containers they are being offloaded and stored.
  • Ensure that the tankers are clean and manage the schedule of cleaning tankers.
• Wash Bay Management
  • Ensure that all incoming SOILL trucks are washed and inspected as per the food safety and QC standards.
  • Ensure all truck fittings are washed and returned to the specific trucks for the Drivers.
  • Wash and inspect all cans and flow bins as per the food safety and QC standards.
  • Ensure all flows bins are clean and that the overflow of the flow bins is complete.
  • Ensure the wash bay is clean and waste-free at all times.
• Personnel Management
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire the Dispatch team to achieve discipline, performance, and productivity.
• Internal Communication
  • Report any faulty loading equipment, loading areas on the plant, and open wash bay job cards.
  • Report daily functions and activities as required by the Dispatch Manager.
• Company Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure staff is trained on the applicable Dispatch and wash bay procedures with regular revision.
  • Ensure that all the relevant training records are up to date for the Learning and Development Department.
• Ad hoc Responsibilities
  • Assist Dispatch Manager with ad hoc tasks as per the operational requirements.
  • Comply with safety, food safety, and environmental procedures as per the SOILL Policies.

Key Competencies:

Education and Experience

• Minimum of a Grade 12
• Proficient In Afrikaans or English
• A forklift Driver’s License is an advantage
• Computer Literate
• At least one year of experience in a supervisory position
