Disability Consultant

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose

To manage disability claims within client portfolio, perform disability assessments and consult to clients with regards to disability, incapacity and absenteeism.

Requirements: Education and Experience

BSc Occupational Therapist / BSc Physiotherapist (or equivalent Bachelor’s degree)
2 – 3 years clinical experience
Experience in the health risk management or insurance industry preferable
Must be registered with HPCSA
Knowledge and skills

Manage the disability, ill health and incapacity claims, within client portfolio:

Compile incapacity and ill health assessments
Liaise with the client
Compile reports to clients, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually
Liaise with treating and independent medical professionals
Consulting

Consult with clients on absenteeism, disability, ill health and incapacity issues
Client Management

Ensure that the client is satisfied with the service received in terms of the claims management
Conduct training sessions and presentations to clients
Compile reports and present to clients
Compile and perform trend analysis
Ensure status report are accurate and are sent to client as required Case Management
Ensure claims (incapacity and disability) allocated meet the required standard
Deal with Client queries
Ensure effective communication with role players involved in the claims process
General

Assist in projects where required
Attend all meetings where required
Further Education

Engage in professional and other developmental activities, as they arise e.g. CPD sessions etc.
Technical

Extensive practical experience on Microsoft office (outlook, word, excel, powerpoint)
