SUMMARY:

A Durban based company has an eciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified Maintenance Controller to join their team.


Purpose of the job:
Oversee all aspects of vehicle management, including repair, maintenance, safety and reporting.



POSITION INFO:

  • Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Manage TTTA Fleet to allow safe travel for our Car Carrier drivers and other road users.
  •  Ability to function and perform effectively and manage all aspects of this role independently.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair horse/trailer/equipment with accuracy and speed (within resource capabilities).
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Coach drivers on identification of faults and ways of reporting or providing continuous, constructive feedback regarding performance of assets in transit.
  • Manage RTMS related items in line with your line of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliancy of the TTTA Fleet with government regulations that have to do with the transport Industry.
  • Manage vehicle service and inspection records
  • Manages fleet department budgets.
  • Negotiate service agreements to ensure cost efficiencies.
  • Complete the inbound carrier inspection, repairs, preparation & submission of reports.
  • Tyre management, maintenance, preparation & submission of reports.
  • Inspection, verification & reporting of all maintenance & repairs for completeness.
  • Develops, implements & monitors a preventative maintenance program to assure cost effective maintenance and a scheduled maintenance program to provide maintenance by manufacturers specifications.
  • Knowledge and application of safety practices and techniques in general mechanics, diesel & engine mechanics and hydraulics.
  • Servicing & electrical repairs.
  • Preparation & reporting on Fleets efficiency and performance (Fuel, servicing cost, repair cost etc.)
  • Prepare & submit reports for all TTTA Fleet related maintenance & repairs.
  • Conduct costing and analysis to identify possible risk/problems.
  • Preparation & submission TTTA Fleet license & registration.
  • Preparation & submission of insurance claims.
  • Manage order to delivery for Fleet parts, preparation & submission of reports.
  • Manages the complete inventory system related to this function through recording of all expenditures & income of each vehicle, maintenance equipment, fuel, repair parts, supplies and so forth.
  • Develops and maintains stakeholder relationships (suppliers, service providers, etc).
  • Manage the safety compliancy for all subcontractors with regards to repairs & maintenance.
  • Total management of Fleet related subcontractors.
  • All Anzen functions related to maintenance & repairs of the TTAF Fleet.
  • Investigates, prepares & submits Anzen reports related to this function.
  • Adherence to agreed deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement of all systems and processes for area of responsibility.
  • Implements fleet maintenance policies & procedures.
  • Ensures compliance on corporate policies and SOP related to this function but not limited.
  • Review policies and procedures and ensure continuous improvements.
  • Manager document and filing process.
  • Oversee specific departmental responsibility and ensure adequate training such as
  • ISO14001, health and safety, first aid, firefighting etc.
  • Provide support to team members as/when required.
  • Must be available to be on Standby and callout duty.
