Diesel Mechanic

Our client has an opportunity available for a Diesel Mechanic based in Cape Town.

Requirements:

• Minimum matric.
• Certified Diesel Mechanic – Trade Certificate.
• 5+ years working experience.
• Experience working on Volvo and Mercedes trucks would be advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Valid PDP.
• Ability to:
  • Work under pressure.
  • Work standby.
  • Work unsupervised majority of the time.
  • Communicate both verbally and written on all levels – both internally and externally.
  • Work as a team player.
  • Solve problems.
  • Work the following hours: 07h00 – 17h00.
• Prepared to work outside normal working hours – as and when required.
• Attention to detail always.
• Own reliable transport to and from work.
• Knowledge of trailers- essential.
• Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and air systems.

Responsibilities:

• Service and repair heavy duty vehicles.
• Replace parts.
• Attend to fault finding.
• Attend to the replacements of engines, gearboxes, brakes, clutches, etc.
• Inspect and check vehicles.
• Attend to bodywork repairs.
• Attend to mechanical and electric breakdowns.
• Maintain and repair hydraulic fault.
• Attend and repair all commercial vehicles.

This is a 3-month contract position with the possibility of permanency.
