Diagnostics – Registered Nurse

Short Description:

A Private Hospital Group in the Western Cape is looking for nurses to work in their Diagnostic Clinics.

Responsibilities:

• Collect Bloods and other specimens for clinical analysis, evaluation and  diagnostic purposes
• Ensure that patients/clients from whom a blood or other specimen e.g. body fluids, tissue and excretion is to be taken are correctly identified and educated about the actual procedure and their rights in compliance with the relevant standard operating procedures.
• Draws blood and collects non-blood specimens from patients/clients at various locations, using the correct and sterile equipment in a manner that will yield the best results.
• Bagging samples that are not performed at POC and ship to laboratories.
• Monitor Turnaround time and follow up of on send away tests to the Lab.
• Observes the physical condition of patients during blood taking ensure the safety and comfort of patients/clients.

Requirements of Position:

• SANC Registration
• Relevant working experience performing phlebotomy is advantageous.
• Proven report writing skills.
•  Proficient use of technology in the healthcare environment.
• HIV Counselling training would be advantageous
