POSITION INFO:

Our laboratory requires a Deputy Laboratory Manager who will assist the Laboratory Manager in ensuring sound operational management of the laboratory. S/he will be expected to perform analysis and be a technical signatory; liaise with customers telephonically or on email, as and when required; deputize for the Laboratory Manager by taking responsibility and accountability for laboratory functions in her absence; take control of the management and supervision of the laboratory staff including the daily workload planning, skills development and succession planning.

Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• Preferably at least 10 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory environment that conducts analysis on food stuffs and a broad range of other products, of which 5 years should be at a supervisory level.
• SANAS 17025 credentials and worked as a technical signatory.
• Working knowledge of and experience in operating and maintaining instruments including GC, AA and HPLC.
• Data interpretation and report writing.
• Method development and validation.
• Management, supervision and training of junior laboratory staff
• Computer literacy
• Internal audit experience will be an added advantage.
