Deceased Estates Paralegal - Pietermaritzburg
Our respectable client is seeking an experienced Deceased Estates Paralegal to join their team.
POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:
General Administration
- Drafting and typing of documents (Memos, emails, and letters related to administration of estates as required)
- Attending to outgoing posts
- Telephone enquiries
- Opening Files for new Estates
- Loading of Estate on LegalEase
- Check newspapers for death notices daily
- Record maintenance
- Final account for sign off for payment to beneficiaries
- Placing monies into corporate saver for clients
- Cheque Requisitions and EFT’s
- Advertising and posting of fees
Dealing with Clients- Attend to / interview clients in person or telephonically as required
- Handle telephone queries regarding estate matters (bank balances, assets, and liabilities of the estate)
- Consult with beneficiaries of the estate as required
- Assist with occasional signing of wills
Masters Office- Attend Masters Office as and when required by the Estates Department
- Query ongoing matters
- Follow up on all outstanding issues
Requirements: - Matric
- Paralegal
- Understanding of Wills and Trusts
- Basic understanding of Accountancy/basic bookkeeping knowledge
- Valid driver’s license advantageous (Code 8)
- Computer Literacy
- MS Word (Intermediate/Advanced)
- MS Excel (Good)
- Lawpac exposure is advantageous
- LegalEase
- AJS
- Lexis Pay
