POSITION INFO:

Under general supervision, responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of database environments.  Develops scripts for standard and non-standard database access.  Participates in the design and creation of computerised databases.  Responsible for quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.  Manages and grants access to the various databases.  Works directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage and may manipulate data within accordance of organisation standards.  Directs the maintenance and use of the corporate data dictionary                               

Formal Education                            

●             Grade 12 (NQF 4)            

●             Tertiary qualification in Information Technology (NQF 6) or relevant years experience and/or technical certification       

Experience                        

●             5 years experience in planning, designing, implementing and/or maintain complex database solutions (relevant OEM solutions), in a highly pressurised environment   

Technical/Legal Certification                      

●             MCITP Enterprise Administrator/MCDBA              

●             ITIL v3 Foundation Certification 

●             OEM certification/relevant database solutions certification          

●             Certification in specialised track based on area/environment      

Responsibilities

●             Identify out of scope needs for improvement  and make recommendations to improve the system and generate the quotation

                Utilisation           

●             Maintain acceptable billability ratio        

                Manage tools of trade   

●             Reduce operational expenses    

●             Responsible application and maintenance of assigned equipment

●             Reduce operational expenses

                Service Level Agreements (SLA''s)             

●             Apply SOP''s and checklists - daily, weekly, monthly          

                Vendor specifications
