Data Warehouse Developer - AWS
A Data Warehouse Developer with AWS skills is needed to join a company in Manchester, as part of the analytics team as they look to migrate their current set up to the Cloud.
Your new role:
The company are still maturing in terms of their cloud platform and are looking for an experienced data warehouse developer who knows AWS ecosystem pretty well. You''ll need skills within data modelling, data warehouse/data lake design and strong reporting skills. The tooling for the future BI/MI is still undecided and you can definitely play a part in defining that. As it stands they are considering a similar toolkit to what they have once they have migrated to AWS - which would be Teradata based. However, they are also exploring things like Redshift and a number of others to see what is going to best for the overall team.
Throughout the development stage, you''ll be focussing on both governance and security of the data, where you''ll strive for efficient MI solutions.
Your new company:
A well-respected company in Manchester who have in recent years invested heavily in data, initially focusing on relatively simple problems, before broadening their reach and recently hiring a stellar Senior team to lead the charge.
They have a complex structure across the Group, with lots of different data sources and lots to consider from an engineering point of view - basically, you''ll be able to do loads and it''ll be quite fun!
What you''ll need to succeed:
So I probably don''t need to tell you, but you''ll be very comfortable with anything SQL might throw at you. The company no matter what solution they go for will always rely heavily on SQL and it''s a pretty important tool to have in your arsenal across the company.
On top of that, a real appreciation for AWS and the overall ecosystem, so things like Athena, Glue and S3. The team have upskilled quickly and throughout the data team they are pretty strong on AWS, but in this particular team, they''d love someone who can come in and teach them a thing or two.
You''ll be great at modelling data structures, implementing and improving the architecture used for reporting and MI.
