Data Scientist

SUMMARY:
A rapidly growing business who is the first-of-its-kind in its industry is currently seeking for a Data Scientist to join their dynamic team. You will be responsible for expanding and optimizing data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.
You would be someone who can build data pipelines and wrangle the data in order to optimize the data systems.
You will support software developers, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent and maintained throughout ongoing projects.
You need to be self-directed and comfortable in supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products and be enthusiastic by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, reporting, etc.
• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and bespoke ‘big data’ technologies.
• Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, pricing methodologies and other key business performance metrics.
• Work with stakeholders including the Executives, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
• Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centres.
• Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product.
• Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

• We are looking for a candidate with 2+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role
• Attained a Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
• Proficient in SQL and NoSQL databases mainly MYSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Cassandra. Particular ability to optimise queries and data base management.
• Experience with designing databases and creating database architectures as well as working with data structures would be required.
• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and extracting value from such data sets.
• The application of statistical concepts such as distributions and regressions with the knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/application should be known.
• Capability to provide business intelligence analysis and reporting and the ability to use programming languages such as Python to manipulate data and draw insights from data sets would form part of the required tasks.
• An ability to write scripts and automate tasks using Python and Bash with some experience in working in MS Server 2012, 2016 or 2019 environment.
• An understanding of basic networking concepts e.g. Firewalls, NAT, Ports, VPNs and proficiency in other programming languages (C#, Java, C++) would be seen as a bonus.
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
