POSITION INFO:
OVERVIEW
Position: Customs Brokerage Specialist / Agent
Location: Johannesburg
Salary: R20 000 - R30 000 depending on experience
POSITION SUMMARY
· To articulate, control all aspects of customs brokerage services within responsible area
· To handle day-to-day shipment arrangement and documentation collection, preparation and distribution, pertaining to the Customs brokerage function.
· Assist in service improvements & development around customs brokerage services, exceed service commitments & customer satisfaction, generate revenues and achieve long-term profitability.
· Have a good relationship with Department of Port Health, State Vet
· Have an excellent relationship with SARS (South African Revenue Services) – Customs.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Follow standard customs brokerage procedures established by management.
· Align and coordinate with operations (Air / Ocean) on pre-clearances, (MAWB / HAWB / MBL / HBL / suppliers invoices / packing list’s / EUR1’s / permits / MCC’s, etc..).
· Track Air arrivals on Track-and-Trace, confirming arrival date.
· Ensure receipt on ANF \’s from Operations for Ocean arrivals.
· Ensure Ocean clearances 72 hours prior to vessel arrival.
· Ensure Air clearances 24 hours to prior to flight arrival
· Ensure RCG manifest to Customs prior to Carrier / Flight arrival
· Ensure tariff classification on product’s / goods for clearance purposes.
· Liaze with client on product description confirmation – tariff classification
· Process DP / GR / IR entries
· Verify clearings instructions obtained for Ocean Imports.
· VOC ( Voucher of Corrections)
· Refunds ( process for return on percentage of duties)
· Submit documentation to Department Port Health and State Vet – obtain Embargo releases.
· EDI of clearances (batches), to customs.
· Uploading of documents for query by Customs into CCloud.
· Monitoring of Customs Brokerage system for receipt of Release.
· Copy of Bill of Entry, worksheets, consolidation worksheet, and SARS release to Operations post clearance.
· Copy of Bill of Entry to Finance
· Process Cargo dues for 20’ / 40’ container arrivals, through TNPA system.
· Other duties as assigned to the position (NRCS interface)
· Attend SAAFF Stakeholders meeting – feedback to management.
· Provide support for resolution of complex custom brokerage services issues, review customers’ feedback & initiate improvement measures.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE
Academic:
Matric Certificate , or, Diploma holder in Logistics and Custom Brokerage is preferable
Experience & knowledge:
· At least 5 years professional experience in customs brokerage services,
· Well versed with customs declaration practice, import and export, air and ocean, for JNB / JHB / DBN / DUR / PLZ / ELS / CPT / DFM
· Proficient in Compu-Clearing / WTG (Wisetech Global) operating system.
· Proficiency in English
· Engage clients for trade / tariff / classification - mediation.
· Ensure compliance, compliance, compliance, with SARS – Customs.
