SUMMARY:
My client within the cargo industry is looking for a dynamic Creditors Clerk to join their team. The company has been operating in the industry for more than 20 years and proven to be successful within the market. They require the successful candidate to have strong communication skills, high sense of urgency and be able to work well under pressure. Someone who is systematic, consistent, and efficient, who can handle deadlines and volumes, need apply.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Education:

Completed Matric
Diploma/ certificate in Bookkeeping or Accountancy

Requirements:

2 – 3 years previous experience within a finance role
Computer literate with strong knowledge of MS Excel
Knowledge of ERP Systems
Experience with foreign accounts
Experience in the shipping industry would be an advantage

Duties and responsibilities amongst others

Liaise with clients and follow up on outstanding invoices
Arrange payments and send out notifications
Invoice adjustments and communication thereof
Generation of statements for approval
Reconciliation of statements
Resolve all client queries
Process disbursements on operating system, create purchase invoices and post to general ledger; capture booking sheet entries
Capture owners’ expenses
Responsible for completing and checking all financial info on system, including:
Owners bank details
That delivery and redelivery bunker quantities and unit prices agree.
Check delivery and redelivery quantities per head fixture to voyage quantities
Check delivery and redelivery dates and that times agree
Check that quantity per cargo card agrees to bill of lading and freight invoice and that rates are correct per booking confirmation/voyage recap and or charter party before posting
Check all bank details
Check that brokerage, address commission and operating fee details, percentages and amounts are correct
Make changes to financial info on system, including:
Investigate large variances between operations and accounts on the VOS
Check that all port costs are correct
Raise all claims, ballast bonuses, and ensure that all expenses are correctly allocated on the VOS
Process all hire in and out statements, bunker invoices, freight invoices, purchase invoices and credit memos after verification timeously
Print preliminary hire statement and reconcile to head fixture ledger
Transfer running costs from store to VIP accounts at the end of voyage.
