Credit Risk Analyst (Cape Town)

POSITION INFO:

Candidates must be Cape Town based.

The Risk & Analytics Department comprises 2 teams – Credit Risk Strategy and Predictive Insights.

One of the benefits of working in this department is that you get to deal with Credit Risk from concept to execution. The teams are small, so you will get involved in all the other areas where the risk teams work, brainstorming problems together and contributing where needed. 

This alleviates the frustration of getting trapped in a particular area of risk without ever seeing the outcome of the work that you have done. In these teams you will get to see and be part of the whole process which is very satisfying.

The client works primarily with SAS Base / Enterprise Guide / Enterprise Miner and FICO’s Blaze Decision Optimizer. 

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for ad hoc analyses; feature engineering; data preparation; development of statistical models; strategy development; monitoring and tracking.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum requirement of a BCom / BBusSci / BSc Actuarial Science / BCom Investments or similar

At least 2 years’ experience in building, implementing and using statistical models

Experience conceptualizing, coding and implementing feature engineering

Experience working with large datasets and preparing data

SAS Base / Enterprise Guide programming experience

Experienced Microsoft Office user

SAS Enterprise Miner programming experience advantageous

Experience with bureau data beneficial

Experience using Python and Hadoop advantageous

Excellent analytical and numeric skills

High attention to detail driving a need for 100% accuracy

Able to manage effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced, error-free environment

Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills required

Ability to extract, validate, clean and prepare data for modelling and reporting

Ability to prepare well-structured, clear and concise deliverables, including presentations

Strong collaborative interpersonal skills – both with internal and external parties

High level of integrity and confidentiality

Ability to learn and to share findings with the team in a concise, clear manner
