SUMMARY:
A credit controller required for a large company in Kelvin - Sandton

POSITION INFO:

Credit Controller 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Responsible and accountable for maintaining an allocated Debtors Book along with Yamaha chainstores

INTERNAL (TEAM) INTERACTION (information, support, advice): Product and Dealer Support Managers, Sales Department, Creditors: exchange of information, support, advice, persuasion

EXTERNAL INTERACTION (information, support, advice, persuasion/ negotiation): Dealers: exchange of information, support, advice, persuasion

Dealer Credit Management Control Dealer credit activities through:
 Monitor credit limits
 Ensure payments receipted on or before due dates
 Process cash and cheque receipts
 Follow up on unpaid accounts
 Carry out dealer account reconciliations
 Process journal entries
 Resolve queries through interaction with dealers and product divisions
 Follow up on Credit Notes
 Management of orders placed on credit hold
 Effect sundry debits and credits
 Identify errant dealers and escalate Exposure to losses minimised
Dealer satisfaction
Maximise collections

Dealer Credit Review  Carry out ITC checks
 Collect trade references
 Compile Credit Review File incorporating Deed of Suretyship, buying patterns, etc
 Discuss findings with Credit Manager Identify potential risk or opportunity for increased sales

Month End  Ensure all processing completed prior to close-off of Debtors Book
 Calculate settlement discounts (daily) On time and complete
No negative interest impact
Dealer satisfaction

Year / Half Year-End  Identification of potential bad debt write-offs to Credit manager for review
 Processing bad debt related entries Correct provision

Support  Support credit control team as required Effective teamwork

MOST COMPLEX ASPECTS TYPICAL OF ROLE: Dealer relationship management in relation to credit limit / credit terms. Ensuring compliance with internal controls.

DESCRIBE FLUCTUATION OF WORK (even flows, predictable peaks, unforeseen peaks): Even flows with month-end peaks and unpredictable dealer queries

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM ROLE: Grade 12 with Credit Management Level 2

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

MINIMUM PERIOD OF EXPERIENCE/ TRAINING - 5 years working experience in commercial credit control environment

PREFERRED EXPERIENTIAL/ TRAINING BACKGROUND:

NOTES: Computer literacy on common commercial and communication packages.
