Our client, within the manufacturing industry is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team.  This position will be based at their offices in Blue Hills, Midrand.

Job Description:

The Cost Accountant is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, costing projects/jobs, margin analysis, actual vs allowable analysis and tracing costs back to underlying activities.  The Cost Accountant must also construct and monitor cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to Management.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensure the cost control of various projects/jobs are completed/monitored and reported to Management and the various Department Heads
• Update actual vs allowable and variance reports
• Costing reports to be prepared and reported to Management on a weekly basis
• Manage work procedures and cost control systems
• Sign off any payments required
• Manage Warehouse Staff
• Reconcile Stock warehouse on a continual basis
• Responsible for regular stock counts
• Set monthly/annual budgets
• Monitor monthly actual against budget and where appropriate making recommendations to individuals and teams responsible for budgets
• Monthly reporting to Management of actual against budget
• Prepare Management Accounts
• Ensure Income and Expenditure are recorded in the correct accounting period
• Reconcile Ledger accounts on a monthly basis
• Responsibility for the allocation of company vehicles
• Follow up regarding outstanding sales orders with Bookkeeper
• Follow up regarding outstanding purchase orders with Bookkeeper

Educational Requirements:

• Matric
• Accounting Degree – BCom Accounting Sciences

Experience and Skills Required:

• Minimum 3 – 5 years work experience in Cost Accounting Environment
• Have a full understanding of Forex transactions
• Extensive report writing skills
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Valid driver’s license and passport
