SUMMARY:
Senior Contracts Manager (Supply Chain Division) required for our global EPCM client to be based in Johannesburg Northern suburbs with tertiary qualifications as indicated in the specification and exposure to working with NEC and FIDIC contracts. Available to commence working on assignment as soon as possible and able to travel for projects when required.

Main Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Manager Supply Chain, the appointed Project Manager or the appointed Project Commercial Manager, the following forms part of the main purpose of the Contracts Manager’s role:
- Comply with the Client’s corporate governance requirements and fulfil all Client and Project Contract Management requirements within the Project.
- To identify, solicit and select reliable sources of construction and related services to support Project execution.
- To negotiate terms & conditions, prepare contracts, monitor contractor performance and delivery of services to meet Project objectives.
- To provide agreed approvals and supporting documentation for payment of invoices to ensure the required services to the Client and its Clients are delivered.
- Perform as per agreed KPIs and participate actively in individual career path development.
Key Performance Areas:- Source & Appoint Contractors, Monitor Contractor Performance & Service Levels.
- Provide input into Procurement through formulation of tender documentation, evaluation criteria and risk assessment on contract conditions.
- Conduct tender evaluation in co-operation with procurement with focus on contractual and commercial qualifications and compliance.
- Undertake negotiation of contracts, including terms and conditions, pricing and delivery.
- Monitor contractors' performance in co-operation with the Package Engineer.
- In collaboration with the QS: obtain measure of work in progress and propose and negotiate changes to enhance contractors' support to the Project.
- Monitor the contractor’s progress and performance to ensure goods and services conform to the contract requirements.
- Make recommendations regarding award of tenders and contracts

- Perform specialized Contract Management services throughout the lifecycle stages of assigned projects.
- Ensure contractor's documentation, including tender securities, insurances, bonds and performance securities are received in accordance with the contract and are safely stored.
- Ensure contractor documentation, including work specification due in the initial contract stages which set the parameters of the contractor's performance of requirements, are received, reviewed and approved and implemented or revised and approved to meet the contract, as appropriate.
- Comply with Company and Project contracting policies and procedures and act within limits of delegated authority.
- Work with engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, HSE and quality to ensure contractors deliver specified services on-time.
- Implement a management system to maintain contract files, closeout contract when completion has occurred and provide surviving documentation to responsible parties.
- Manage Contractor information, document control and payments.
- Authorize payments consistent with the contract terms.
- Exercise company remedies, as appropriate, where a contractor’s performance is deficient.
- Approve invoices with proper supporting documentation, conduct change negotiations, manage and negotiate claims, maintain contract files.
- Close out contract when completion has occurred

- Build (internal or external) customer relationships through timely response to customer interactions measured by on time delivery of requests for information/support.

Requirements of the Role: Minimum Qualifications- Matric
- Tertiary Qualification – NQF Level 6 or Higher
- Recognised LLB
- Recognised Quantity Surveying qualification
Experience- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Contract Administration within the mining / construction / EPCM industry
- Contract management of high value portfolio experience is advantageous
- Construction management advantageous
- Leading and managing a team of contract administrators
- In-depth knowledge of NEC and FIDIC and ability to interpret Bespoke Conditions of Contract

Physical requirement of the Role- Demanding environment of being in the middle: supplier facing and customer facing almost simultaneously.
