Conservation Co-Ordinator

Our client in the hospitality industry based in Paterson has a position available for a Conservation Co-Ordinator.

Requirements: 

• FGASA Level 1/ NQF2 / nature conservation or environmental education qualification and/or
  related tertiary education.
• At least 1 year experience dealing with big five game and volunteers.
• Code B or EB driver’s license and valid PDP.
• SASETTA firearms competency.
• Valid first aid certificate level 1.
• DEAT and FGASA registered.
• 4x4 driving preferable.
• People orientated personality.
• Good general knowledge of ecological management of a game reserve.
• QGIS mapping will be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Lead and conduct conservation projects, maintenance (roads/fences/alien vegetation/soil erosion) and fauna/flora monitoring with volunteers.
• Give lectures on various nature based topics.
• Responsible for the maintenance and up keep of vehicles and equipment/assets.
• Participate in local community projects.
• Work in conjunction with the Wildlife Department.
• Work independently and unsupervised for majority of time.
