About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Concrete Foreman/Site Agent to oversee and manage construction projects in Zambia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating all on-site activities, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, train, and motivate a crew of concrete laborers and finishers.
- Plan, delegate, and oversee the daily work assignments for the crew to ensure maximum productivity.
- Monitor crew performance, provide constructive feedback, and enforce all company policies.
- Resolve conflicts and ensure a positive, professional work environment within the team.
- Read and interpret project drawings and specifications to plan and execute all concrete-related tasks.
- Develop and maintain a detailed fortnightly (two-week look-ahead) program, outlining all upcoming tasks, labor requirements, and material needs.
- Calculate material requirements and coordinate the timely ordering and delivery of concrete, reinforcement steel, formwork, and other supplies.
- Direct and inspect all phases of concrete work, including form setting, rebar placement, pouring, vibrating, screeding, and finishing.
- Ensure all finishing, curing, and jointing activities are performed to project standards.
- Operate or supervise the operation of essential concrete tools and equipment.
- Conduct continuous inspections of work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
- Identify and correct potential issues, defects, or deviations from the plan promptly.
- Lead daily safety meetings (toolbox talks) to address job-specific hazards.
- Enforce strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, ensuring the crew consistently uses required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate daily activities with other trade foremen to ensure seamless workflow across the project.
- Act as a key point of contact on-site, assisting the Contracts Manager in overseeing general progress, logistics, and safety.
- Monitor overall site conditions, including cleanliness and material storage, to maintain a safe and efficient work environment for all personnel.
- Provide comprehensive daily updates to the Project Manager or Contracts Manager on all relevant site activities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a technical qualification or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field. With over 6 years of experience in a similar role, you should have a strong understanding of construction processes and excellent leadership skills.
