Compliance Officer for Attorneys

POSITION INFO:

Braamfontein

To monitor and provide oversight on the adherence to compliance practices to ensure compliance risks are managed and reported. Must have in depth understanding of POPI and PAIA.

 Skills and Competencies required

 Experience

-       Previous work history in similar role of at least three to five years
-       Knowledge and understanding of compliance standards and policies,
         audit techniques, regulatory issues.

 Responsibilities

-       Develop, implement and maintain the company’s compliance program
-       Develop company compliance communications
-       Organise regular training sessions for employees to communicate key
         regulatory changes and updates.
-       Ensure the company functions in a legal and ethical manner whilst       
         meeting its business goals.
-       Ensure continual monitoring and review of compliance procedures to
         help identify possible areas where improvement could be made.r
-       Advise management on the company’s compliance with laws and
         regulations by means of reporting
-       Work with managers to ensure appropriate contingency plans are in
         place that set guidelines on how to respond to a possible compliance
         breach
-       Continual self-development and learning in order to stay up to date with
         relevant legislation and regulations
-       In addition to the duties set out in POPIA additional duties to be
         performed include ensuring that:

• a compliance framework is developed, implemented, monitored and maintained;
• a personal information impact assessment is done to ensure that adequate measures and standards exist in order to comply with the conditions for the lawful processing of personal information
• a manual is developed, maintained and made available as prescribed in terms of PAIA
• internal measures are developed together with adequate systems to process requests for information
• internal awareness sessions are conducted regarding the provisions of POPIA, the Regulations, codes of conduct or any other information obtained from the Information Regulator

 Essential Qualifications

-       Advanced Diplomas

Preferred Qualification

-       Bachelor''''s degree in Accounting, Business Science or Law.

-       Post Graduate Diploma: Risk Management or Compliance Management
