Compliance Officer ( 2 year Fixed term Contract)

SUMMARY:
To facilitate a compliance risk management process to ensure that the Bank complies with all related statutory and/or regulatory requirements.

POSITION INFO:

Key Performance Areas:

1. Formulate, document and implement the necessary to train staff on applicable legislation policies, processes   and practices to manage the related risk for the organisation.  
2. Provide awareness training on relevant legislation
3. Create bank wide compliance culture 
4. Ensure that the current policies are updated and new policies implemented where applicable. 
5. Provide advice and guidance on applicable legislation to internal stakeholders
6. Evaluate operational risks, as well as identify risks/potential risks and direct them to the appropriate stakeholders within business.
7. Represent Ubank and maintain relationships with Regulators.
8. Drafting compliance reports to submitted to various internal committees. 
9. Ensure that the Bank’s Internal Rules and Compliance Manual, processes and procedures align with the latest legislative and industry requirements (perform environment scanning).
10. Collaborates with other departments (e.g. Risk, Internal Audit, Finance etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
11. Reporting of non-compliance issues to the Compliance Manager, Head of Compliance and/or the CEO, the Board of Ubank as the case may be and to all other forums and committees as required.
12. Any other duties as may be required by management from time to time.     
13. Facilitate compliance risk profile workshops.
14. Compile quality Compliance Risk Management Plans on applicable regulatory requirements.
15. Perform continuous Compliance Monitoring on applicable regulatory requirements bank wide and at relevant third parties.
16. Drafting compliance monitoring reports.
17. Stay abreast of regulatory developments and other relevant regulatory requirements pertaining to the bank and act accordingly.

Assisting in facilitating reviews/ inspections by Regulators.

Qualifications, Experience, knowledge and skills:

• Law Degree or relevant qualifications essential.
• Post Graduate Diploma in Compliance will be an advantage.
• 5 years’ experience in a financial or related sector (e.g. consulting) is essential.
• Experience and knowledge of Banks Act and related regulations
• Training of staff.
• Good facilitation skills.
• Integrity.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Computer Literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Team player.
• Good conflict management skills.
• Sound knowledge of banking services, products and client payment methods/systems (e.g. NPS/PASA).
• Ability to understand possible risk areas related to this role and to make recommendations to manage the inherent risks.
