Compliance Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Freight and Storage industry has an EE opportunity available for a Compliance Manager in the Durban area.

POSITION INFO:
Education and Experience Requirements:

• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree is required
• Preference will be given to individuals with a degree in or which includes the following fields: Risk Management, Compliance, Corporate Governance, Law
• Any professional certification in the field of Risk Management and/or Compliance will be advantageous
• Minimum 10 years’ experience within the Risk Management and/or Compliance field of which at least 5 years should have been in a management role
• Good understanding of SHEQ systems (ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001)
• Experience in the transport/bulk industry would be advantageous
• Good understanding of industry applicable regulations & legislation (Bulk Grain Handling & Storage Industry)
• Experience in dealing with external stakeholders

• Ensure that all Incidents/CAR’s in your area of responsibility are reported, investigated and learnings disseminated.
• Ensure compliance to OHS Act and other industry applicable legislation
• Develop & implement a Risk Management and Business Compliance strategy which will deliver business sustainability
• Provide input into the overall Department budget
• Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels
• Develop and manage the company risk management program
• Develop and maintain a risk management standard in line with the risk management program
• Develop and maintain company policies/procedures impacting all departments
• Review all business risk registers from the managers
• Ensure good corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders
• Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program
• Monitor compliance program to ensure its effectiveness
• Collaborate with management team to make sure that the entire company is aware of compliance requirements and issues
• Report compliance violations to the duly authorized enforcement authorities as appropriate or required
• External Stakeholders Engagement
• Ensure compliance TNPA & RSR Licence requirements
• Provide support to commercial on all claims
• Schedule and execute internal Compliance Audits with the assistant of the Head of Maintenance/Technical Manager
• Track all audit findings (internal & external) to closure and ensure that the relevant internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date on the status of all audit findings
• Develop and maintain a reporting matrix for all statutory reporting and ensure this matrix is communicate to all the relevant stakeholders
• Submit compliance reports to the relevant regulatory authorities as and when required
• Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes
• Submit monthly management reports as per business requirements
