Our Client in the Logistics industry (Air & Ocean), has a permanent role for a Commercial Manager (mid/senior). This role reports into the Regional Manager - Western Cape. It is important to have Sales experience, as well as having extensive knowledge of the courier industry.

This position is open to all ethnicities with a valid South African ID.

Accountabilities:

1. Day to day operations (with the focus on Sales)

· Core responsibility: Sales Team and Customer Services Team. To lead, drive and exceed profitable growth – ensuring sales targets are aligned to the company’s strategy

· Analysing sales performance; daily and weekly review meetings - ensuring that the team is focused and driven

· Lead role in sales ensuring the promise on budget is delivered

· Assessing profitability and opportunities

· Assuming a lead role in solving commercial issues that may arise

· Involvement in asset management and utilization

· Emphasis to be placed on increase of Sales and Sales Target

· Assisting in the completion in annual Budgets and the maintenance thereof

· Monitor and measure the delivery network - investigate deliveries in order to maintain the KPI standards

· Daily report to General Manager with emphasis in point form of the above

· Ensure that Company Policy and procedures within the branch are adhered to

· To integrate quality into the business by ensuring that every customer contact is a demonstration of absolute dedication towards providing first time ideal solutions for the satisfaction of customers immediate and future needs

· Prepare contingency plans in cases of operating system failure on Parcel Perfect

2. Manage customer relationships

· To ensure every contact with an internal or external customer is a demonstration of absolute dedication towards providing first time ideal solutions for the satisfaction of our customers immediate and future needs

· Business retention – expand and further develop existing Client base

3. Operational Management

· To evaluate the operating procedure planning during the process flow using Parcel Perfect

· To maintain the Parcel Perfect billing system in immaculate condition. This includes the smooth running of the billing and invoices

· To ensure that all operational procedures are maintained in excellent filling order, database on Parcel Perfect is kept in order and cleaned out where necessary

· Ensure that all inbound shipments are processed accurately and timely

· Express procedures and ISO. Managing and sorting in the correct service products, monitoring of consignment and all deliveries are made on time every time

· Ensure that checks are done according to policy and procedure

· Manage the correct hand in of all outbound shipments on the network

· Ensuring that security checks are properly carried out and holding back any shipments and paperwork that cannot be properly accounted for

· Processing all outbound shipments, meeting and relevant cut off times as agreed

· Processing all outbound material as per the Operating Procedures and Parcel Perfect

· Managing and sorting in the correct service products, monitoring of shipments are delivered on time in full

4. Staff Management (managing the Sales Team &Â Customer Services Team)

· Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff and agree performance standards with new and existing staff

· Appraising their performance and thereby identifying needs on a regular basis

· Developing staff by coaching and on the job training and implementing training in Conjunction with the training department

· Encouraging high levels of motivation and enthusiasm amongst staff members and handling disciplinary matter when required

5. Management of customer accounts

· Compile weekly / monthly billing reports on sales accounts and the exact amount of business and potential business generated by these accounts

· Providing evidence of weekly finance meetings held with the customer – if / when necessary

· Follow up and conclude outstanding debtors

6. Security Management

· Upholding strict, effective security and billing procedures to ensure our existing and future customers can safely utilize our service

7. Ad hoc

· To assist in other departments and with other functions from time to time as the needs of the business dictate

* To assist the General Manager and Regional Director when applicable with functions outside of the job description to ensure the Billing and Accounts Operation runs effectively and efficiently according to network standards required

Â

Education & Work Experience:

· Grade 12

· Relevant work experience

· Previous Supervisory / Management experience

* Extensive knowledge of courier industry
