Clinical Skills Technical Assistant Medical School

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
This position is to provide a range of support services for the Medical School Clinical Skills Laboratory to ensure effective and efficient running of the skills lab. Duties will include lab preparation for teaching sessions, clean up, equipment maintenance and repair.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
•Assist with simulation setup, operations and troubleshooting
•Perform cleaning and maintenance of part task trainers and manikins and consumablerecycling
•Conduct safety checks for simulation manikins and equipment.
•Ensure the management of supply inventory, ordering and restocking supplies and equipment
•Assist in the maintenance of clean and safe laboratory and storeroom environments (floors,counter tops, sinks, shelving, equipment, washes and stores linens, and other materials)
•Assist with technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in the useof simulation equipment
•Participate or assist in technical simulation training, including role playing applications, propsplacement and moulage set‐up
•Assist with simulation activities on the Clinical Platform
•Assist with bookings, and front desk administrative work where required

CORE COMPETENCIES
1.Sound knowledge of stock control and procurement
2.Sound knowledge of operations pertaining to simulation within a clinical education context
3.Proficiency in MS Office and the willingness to learn internal software programs
4. Ability to prioritize and accurately complete tasks to the required standards
5. Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, excellent time management and organizational skills
6. Ability to interact constructively with students and to work as part of a professional team in the Medical School and Faculty of Health Sciences

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
• Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience and skills
• 3-4 years’ work experience in stock management of in a clinical field or at a Higher Education Institution.
• Experience in a Higher Education setting in a clinical simulation will be an advantage specifically
• Valid Driver’s licence.
