Clinical Coder - KZN

SUMMARY:
Our Client is looking for a Clinical Coder based in KZN

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements: 

• Two years current Clinical Coding experience in line with South African  industry Coding Standards
• One year government hospital experience
• Read and analyze medical records to help identify all diagnoses, operations, and procedures relevant to the period of patient care
• Clarify inconsistent, doubtful, or non-specific information in a medical record by consulting with the responsible medical practitioner
• Allocate codes to patients’ current period of care, using knowledge of the information contained within the International Classification of Diseases, revision 10, and CPT coding books
• Conduct assessment of work to make sure that it is continuous improvement in ICD-10 and CPT coding and collection of quality health data
• Assess the electronic medical record content and highlight shortcomings to management
• Assist with the education of clinical staff with regard to ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Ensure that all externally funded patients’ bills are accurate to ensure timeous claims submissions to the funders for payment.
• The minimum qualification required is a Diploma in Nursing/Enrolled Nursing/Active registered as a Nurse
• ICD10 Certificate; CPT4 Certificate
• Strong Customer Relations and Interpersonal Skills
• Medical Aid and Billing experience would be an added advantage.
