SUMMARY:
A Hospital Clinical Coder is required for a hospital in Kwazulu Natal. Applicants must have previous Clinical Coding or Case Management experience with an intermediate level ICD10 certificate.
POSITION INFO:
Key responsibility of the position:
The Clinical Coder is responsible for collaboration with hospital case management teams, liaison between the patients, clinicians and managed care organisations in order to provide clinical coding that is updated in accordance with the patient response to treatment, to ensure reimbursement from funders. Assess clinical statements and convert this information into ICD 10 and CPT coding on the patient account.
Education requirements:
Nursing Diploma or Enrolled Nurse Certificate
Registered with SANC as Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse (required)
Certificate in Intermediate ICD-10/CPT coding (required)
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 3 years working experience as Clinical Coder or Case Manager within a hospital
Multi-disciplinary clinical experience and good knowledge of medical terminology
Computer literate
Detail orientated
Excellent communication skills
Due to the inherent requirements of the position a clear credit record is essential
