SUMMARY:
Hospital Clinical Coders are required for hospitals in Pretoria and Johannesburg region. Applicants must have previous Clinical Coding or Case Management experience within a hospital environment and able to work extended hours if/when required due to operational demands.
POSITION INFO:
Key responsibility of the position:
The Clinical Coder is responsible for collaboration with hospital case management teams, liaison between the patients, clinicians and managed care organisations in order to provide clinical coding that is updated in accordance with the patient response to treatment, to ensure reimbursement from funders. Assess clinical statements and convert this information into ICD 10 and CPT coding on the patient account.
Education requirements:
Nursing Diploma or Enrolled Nurse Certificate
Registered with SANC as Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse (required)
Certificate in Advanced ICD-10 coding essential
Certificate in Advanced Complete CPT for SA (preferred)
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 3 years working experience as Clinical Coder or Case Manager within a hospital
Multi-disciplinary clinical experience and good knowledge of medical terminology
Computer literate
Detail orientated
Excellent communication skills
Due to the inherent requirements of the position a clear credit records is essential
