Clinical Coder

SUMMARY:
Healthcare concern based on the West Rand is looking for a clinical coder.  Certification in ICD-10 coding essential as well as previous experience in a coder role. Qualified nursing registration essential.

POSITION INFO:
Clinical coding accuracy is a crucial component of consistency of care to measure best and safest care for patients in hospital
The candidate will be responsible for liaising between the patients, treating clinicians and managed care organizations.
Work with billing departments to achieve clinical coding excellent on all patient files
Application of clinical and coding knowledge to effectively assign and sequence all ICD-10 and CPT codes for services rendered for each patient
Read and analyze records from digital and other resources for accurate and appropriate coding
Engage with service providers to clarify information to ensure complete ICD-10 and CPT coding
Review and analyze clinical coding periodically during a patient event in relations to mapped clinical coding requirements
Comply will all legal requirements
Compliance Management
Rejection Management
Assist with adhoc case management required at hospital level
Internal Customer Support

Requirements:
Diploma in nursing or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification in healthcare science
Certificate in Advanced ICD-10
SANC registration as a RN
Min. 3 years experience in clinical coding and / or case management in a hospital environment
CPT coding and an understanding of coding standards
ICD-10 coding and an understanding of coding standards
