Claims Handler: General and Legal

SUMMARY:
Our client, a national concern, is looking for a professional to take responsibility for the handling of a variety of claims, general and legal; reviewing legal documentation and provide advice on appropriate action; assisting with legal matters including drafting of contracts / agreements and / or required litigation.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements:

• LLB Degree or similar Law Degree
• Minimum 5 years working experience in the legal environment (insurance industry beneficial).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (English and Afrikaans)
• Good drafting skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Computer skills- proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Problem solving skills.
• Ability to work independently when preparing legal documents.
• Punctual and presentable.
• Must be able to work well under pressure and adapt to a multifunctioning work environment. 
• Will be required to undergo Psychometric / Aptitude testing

Responsibilities will include:

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day claims (general and legal).
• Develop and optimise processes and procedures across the business unit in line with operational requirements.
• Maintains relationships with service providers and manage adherence to services level agreements.
• Analyses and review existing and future agreements.
• Updates shared drive index and ensure documentation is valid and easily accessible.
• Prepares and liaises with external service providers on matters relating to litigation.
• Prepare, analyse and review drafts.
• Provide business unit with broad spectrum legal advice.
• Is responsible for the efficient administration of the business unit, particularly with regard to ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
