POSITION INFO:
Chief Officer Nampula Mozambique
Our client in Northern Mozambique urgently seeks the services of a qualified and experienced Marine Chief Officer for their operations. The candidate must be able to start immediately.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Purpose of the Chief officer position is to form part of a minimum operational crew requirement on the Bronagh J, Peg and Sofia. The Chief officer is the back up person for the Captain and must be trained and capable of taking over from the Captain in an emergency. The Chief Officer is a Supervisor of the deck crew and junior officers.
Key Functional Outputs
• Responsible for implementing and complying with the safety and environmental policy of the company which includes motivating the crew for compliance.
• Review the RA, GTA and take 5 done on board
• Ensure the NOSA files are update and that the Monthly inspection and SHE REP inspection.
• The C/O is a member of the Ship Management and Safety Team.
• Responsible for the entire cargo operation, namely loading at the jetty and unloading at the mother vessel.
• He is responsible for the maintenance of the ship’s hull and accommodation;
• He is responsible to maintain operational and updated the lifesaving and firefighting;
• He is in charge of the ballast and de-ballasting operation done on board
• The C/O is responsible for the stability and watertight integrity of the vessels.
• He has to make sure all the crew members are complying with latest rules of MARPOL, SOLAS and STCW.
• In close co-operation with the Chief Engineer the C/O planes and schedule the maintenance or repairs to the deck equipment, safety gear and steelwork.
• He ensures that the crew and officers working hours are regulated and controlled to ensure that minimum rest periods are maintained.
• He is responsible for performing vessel navigation watch duties.
• He is responsible to assist the Master with the safe navigation, operation and safe maneuvering of the Bronagh J, Sofia III and the Peg.
• • Stores ordering and all necessary goods for the vessel
• HE executes leadership, transfers knowledge, trains and motivates the Deck Department staff.
• Draft the Daily, weekly and monthly vessel inspections and create WO or WR
• He also acts as SSO- ship security officer, responsible for the security of the ship both in port and at sea.
• Responsible for keeping and maintaining ISM and NOSA files onboard.
• He is responsible for the welfare of the crew on board ship.
• He is responsible for the medical care and medical facilities on board
• Reporting as required by management.

Expected Hours of Work:
Able to adapt to a variety of vessel schedules and work hours.
May be required to work different equipment/vessels and in different regions.
