Chair Automotive Engineering (3 year contract)

The purpose of the Chair is for specialised research and innovation specifically in and focussing on future skills

required in the automotive industry. Create a supportive, conducive and enabled environment to facilitate increased

research, innovation and international competitiveness of the integrated automotive manufacturing industry in the

Eastern Cape through local, national and international partnerships and collaboration.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Establish and lead research and innovation in the field of Automotive Engineering and related

manufacturing industries.

• Establish and lead international student/staff exchange programs and knowledge transfer in the field of

Automotive Engineering.

• Facilitate the recruitment of human resources in the field of Automotive Engineering as well as other

Engineering related fields.

• Regular reporting as per the requirements of the Terms of reference for the Steering and Management

committees

• Enhance collaboration with AIDC (Automotive Industry Development Centre Eastern Cape).

• Collaborate in Industry 4.0 activities related to manufacturing and the automotive industry Development of

new future training programme

• Placement of graduates at OEMs, Tier suppliers and industry in general.

• Provide technical advice to the African continent efforts to industrialise its automotive industry.

• Provide training programmes to the African Continent

• Successful supervise interns, postgraduate Masters and Doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows
