POSITION INFO:

The main purpose of the job:

  • Responsible for cashbook function, including bank reconciliations, following up and clearing of reconciling items, daily cash management, foreign payments, and other ad hoc payments

Location:

  • Parktown, Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

  • Adherence to systems, procedures and policies, to company and departmental guidelines
  • Effective processing of all local and forex bank account, as well as all cards, call accounts, and any other cash-related transactions to ensure accurate and timeous capturing and reconciliations
  • Effective daily, weekly, month-end processing timeously and accurately, including revaluation of foreign banks
  • Monthly Bank Reconciliation
  • Aid Grants teams in terms of recons and reports
  • Ensure effective intercompany transactions identification and processing. (i.e. Vodacom bank entries/ VAT transfers)
  • Responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs
  • Compilation and submission of documents for audit
  • Maintain a manual and electronic filing and storage system as required per WHC policies and procedures
  • Inform the Supervisor of all issues and activities related to systems and processes

Required minimum education and training:

  • Diploma or Degree in finance

Required minimum work experience:

  • Minimum 1-year cashbook clerk experience

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

  • Experience in any accounting system is essential
  • Effective self-management and good time management skills
  • Manage interruptions, prioritize and work under pressure with attention to details
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have exceptional organization and administrative skills
  • Willing and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Must be able to manage large volumes
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external
