A position has become available for a Camp Manager at a Game Reserve  in Zululand.

Candidates working at a Camp in a Game Reserve / Lodge will  only be considered for this position

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum Requirements:
 
  •   Diploma / Degree in Business /Hospitality /Hotel Management or equivalent
  •  Minimum 3 years’ experience in Camp Management or Hospitality Management
  • Skilled in planning and organisation
  • An awareness of developments within the food and lodge industries, as well as international trends in hospitality
  •  Passion for the Environment, Conservation, and ability to monitor an Environmental Management Plan
  •  Excellent customer Service
  •  Excellent planning and organizing skills
  •  Excellent communication skills
  •  Problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  •  Great initiative
  • Excellent decision-making skills 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Together with Lodge Manager ensure optimal Lodge / Camp operations at all times.
  • Meet with Department Heads on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to discuss operations, staffing and training
  • Work with team to ensure maintenance of lodges /camp is within budget parameters and required standards.
  •  Monitor staff performance on a daily/weekly basis and provide guidance where required.
  •  Working closely with the Front desk to ensure optimal customer service, providing backup to the front desk/front of house in busy times
  • Hands on activity in each department when required and mostly daily
  •  Handle customer issues and solve any situations as they arise
  • Working within company policies and procedures on a regular basis and ensure maintenance of it
  •  Liaise with the Lodge Manager on a continuous basis to provide feedback and seek assistance as required
  •  Prepare reports and manage budget allocations in each department
  • Attend and execute Health and Safety meetings at the Lodge
  • Oversee an events/conferencing that take place in at the Lodge
  •  Ad Hoc as & when required by Lodge Manager
  • Staff rosters are detailed and meet lodge requirements (reception and conference and events etc) whilst keeping overall staff costs to the minimum possible level.
  • Guest expectation regarding the standard of service should be exceeded. Ensure ultimate guest relations in the lodge and that the “at home” personal attention levels are maintained
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Experience, and proven track record in managing & training people
  • Hospitality experience
