CNC PLASMA CUTTING OPERATOR

SUMMARY:
To operate a CNC Plasma Cutting System in a stainless steel manufacturing environment and to ensure the scrap rate is kept below 2,5%

POSITION INFO:

Duties:

• Draw material from stock using off cuts where available
• Load and unload the cutting deck using the overhead crane or manually
• Program and operate plasma cutter
• Program and set up using proper gases and cutting tips to optimise cutting process
• Generate multiple part nesting’s in order to optimise material usage
• Perform routine maintenance including cleaning machine and workspace
• Troubleshoot program
• Perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered
• Remove cut product from the table, stack on pallets or place in bins, and ensure timely delivery to the next department as required
• Complete quality control and daily production reports accurately
• Work in accordance to established safety rules and good housekeeping practices
• Work on additional equipment or tasks outside the job description as directed by the Plant Manager
• Any other duties required by management

Qualifications and requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience programming and operating a CNC controlled plasma cutting system, preferably in a stainless steel environment
• Experience with overhead cranes, basic hand tools, tape measure, calipers, and air grinders
• Experience using Hypertherm ProNest software
• Abler to read interpret and understand drawings tolerances per print specification
• Experience with DXF, DWG, and various print file types
• Must be able to drive a forklift and safely handle materials

• Keeping scrap and rework below 2 1/2 %.
• Optimization of plate utilization in minimize wastage
• Have no accidents or lost time incidents.
• Having zero jobs rejected by customers (Uncompromising Quality).

Remuneration:

Negotiable package based on qualifications and experience and the incumbent will employed on a contractual basis
