Job Description

• Have good knowledge and understanding of how a five star environment works
• Good people skills and ability to fit in and adjust to change with ease
• Support Head chef in the daily operations of the kitchen
• Keep work area at all times in hygienic according to the rules set by the Head Chef
• Control food stock and food cost within the kitchen
• Assist head chef with monthly stock takes
• Ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparation and keep up to date with the new products, recipes and preparation techniques.

Qualifications

• Matric
• Professional Chef Diploma

Skills

Minimum 5 years experienced gained in a 5 star environment.Must have strong knowledge of health & safety in the kitchen. Must be able to lead a team in the absence of the Head Chef. Work closely with service staff and management. Knowledge of stock control, ordering, budgeting. Flexible when needed in the event of a special occasions. Neat & presentable. Familiar with latest trends. Hospitality and service training experience.
