Job Description

You will be responsible for the following duties: 

Running and coordinating the full range of diving and Watersports activities, including guided dives, all PADI course, snorkeling trips, island hopping, dhow cruises and any other water or land-based activities as required, Manning the Water sports center during working hours, including early departures for fishing, Up selling of dive courses to guests, Taking videos and photography regularly on activities, Co-ordinate the boat movements to ensure best use of the boats every day, Make sure that all dive equipment is serviced in time and well maintained, Procure quotes and request management approval in good time for replacements, Draw up checklists and inventories for boats and equipment to schedule maintenance, Sanitizes equipment and the boats/dive center in accordance with WHO and Padi guidelines, Keep Padi and Dan memberships up to date and work to their standards, ensure Dan equipment operational, Creating ‘wow’ experiences and activities for guests (there is some scope for creativity, in consultation with management and the directors), General administrative or hotel duties if assistance is required and requested by management, Hosting guests in the evenings, Performing hotel management duties on a rotational basis according to a roster, Look after all water sports center equipment, the set up-equipment, and the boats, to ensure that they are all cleaned, well maintained and secure to theft and damage. Undertaking the repairs and maintenance of equipment under your supervision, whether that is by taking daily care, arranging in-house repairs or getting quotes for technicians and equipment, Maintaining and updating the boat logs, Advising when boats/engines require repair or maintenance and arranging/undertaking as appropriate, Ensuring boats are clean, seaworthy, and properly equipped at all times, including scheduling regular ‘deep-cleaning’ (out of water) of the boats and equipment and making sure boats have safety equipment and working radios, Managing the staff and keeping time sheets, rosters and leave application records for them, Responsible for your staff in terms of training, motivation and tasking, Ensuring the boats are properly secured at mooring lines, and that mooring lines are appropriately positioned, Assessing weather and the risks to boats and acting accordingly to protect the boats, Monitoring cyclones and tropical storms and recommending appropriate action, Taking personal responsibility for the procurement, inventory, monitoring and the storage all Watersports equipment and assets and completing a stock take and month end on Panstrat, Producing a monthly report for the Retreat Manager, including revenue, cost, summary of operations.

Qualifications
  • Matric
  • Diploma in Hospitality Management
  • Course in Marina Management
Skills

Microsoft office, understanding of POS systems such as Hotsoft/Panstrat, A minimum of 10 years experience in similar role in private retreats.
