Buyer - Food Manufacturing Industry - Contract

SUMMARY:
A well-known Food Manufacturing and Distribution Company requires the above to source and order local products, purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the Company’s operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements for the role:

• A Degree or Diploma or related qualification in Procurement or related is preferred for this role but is not essential depending on their work experience as a Buyer.
• Previous experience having worked in a Procurement or Buyer or similar role within the Food Manufacturing and Food Chemical or related industry is essential.
• Previous experience having worked on Syspro is preferred but not essential.

• Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Ensuring continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicating any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
• Monitoring market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
• Researching and evaluating areas of opportunity and reducing costs where possible.
• Delivering briefs, updates and reports as and when required.
• Developing creative and innovative procurement processes.
• Developing ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
• Negotiating contracts, improving prices and terms of business with Suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
• Assessing and evaluating Suppliers, undertaking performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and managing performance improvement activities.
• Ensuring that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all Supplier relationships.
• Exploring alternate sources for goods and materials.
• Preparing purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected Suppliers and in line with Organisational targets and requirements.
• Undertaking research on and evaluating existing and new Suppliers.
• Contacting Suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
• Assisting with the implementation and sustainability of food safety activities.
• Reporting any non-conformances to the Food Safety Manager.
